In the 1940s, women were taking a collective step forward and changing the way they lived. Rosie the Riveter was obviously a prevalant symbol in the decade of the power that women had. Over the course of the 1940s, the amount of women in the workforce increased by the millions. The primary reason why women chose this time to step out and make a change was the opportunity provided them by World War II and the absence of a large percentage of the men. Because of this, they were able to acquire more jobs, thus proving how much they were truly capable of.
